Requesting Service Records:
People seek Service
Records for a variety of reasons, some to acquire their own Service / Medical
records and some in connection with the growing interest in their family history.
Whatever the reason, obtaining copies can be a surprisingly straightforward process.
The process differs, depending on whether you are requesting your
OWN Service Record, or if you are the next of kin of a DECEASED Service person or if you
simply have a general interest in an individual.

Please note:
For a DECEASED Service persons Record, IF they were born 116 years ago or more, you will NOT need to have a Copy of the Death Certificate.
For a DECEASED Service persons Record, born less than 116 years ago, you WILL need to have a Copy of the Death Certificate.
The more information you can provide i.e. Service Number, Branch, Date Joined and Left etc. the easier it will be.
It can take up to 2 or 3
months before you get the details returned to you. The below Links take you to the new Government website;
